"Train Up a Child in the Way He Should Go..."This verse of the Old Testment serves as a motto to ORT Israel in its educational approach to the exceptionally broad diversity of its students. According to the principles rooted in the concept of equal opportunity for students, human beings and their infinite variations cannot be compared or hierarchically ranked. The ORT schools exhibit remarkable flexibility in curricula compatible with the student's interests, predilections and caliber, while giving him great freedom of choice in a manner which enables him to function at the upper limit of his natural ability. Thus the ORT schools broadcast a message of equality to the students in offering them educational programs which befit their capabilities and preferences. In addition to the foregoing, the Network constantly works toward the care and support of the weaker populations, in an ongoing effort to increase their social mobility. For this youngsters, study tracks have longe since been replaced by the development of flexible frameworks which enable every student to realize his abilities without being confined to foreordained tracks which deter his educational advancement. This trend is reflected in the ever-increasing numbers of students who take the Matriculation Examinations, and in the rising rates of success in those examinations. This new philosophy of education reinforces the self-image of the student, and represents an incentive to him to invest his best efforts in breaking through his limitaions and go forward in his achievements and his life. |
